When a pantech is the right body
A pantech gives your freight more protection from weather, dust and theft than an open tray or a curtainsider. It suits loads that are carried by hand or trolley through the rear, such as furniture, parcels, retail stock and tools, and it gives you a large, flat surface for signwriting your business.
If you mostly load pallets from the side with a forklift, a curtainsider may suit you better. Our guide to pantech and curtainsider bodies compares the two.
How we build a pantech
- The walls are made from Colorbond steel, aluminium or FRP panels, depending on the weight, finish and budget you are working to.
- At the rear we fit barn doors or a roller door, and we add side doors where you need kerbside access.
- Inside, we can add racking, shelving, E-track or load restraint rails, tie-down points and lighting.
- A tail lift is worth considering if you handle heavy items or deliver to places without a loading dock.
- The floor is hardwood or composite, chosen to suit the load you carry.

Repairs to existing pantechs
We repair pantech panels, roofs, floors, doors and roller doors on all makes. The most common problem we see is water getting in through the roof or floor, and it is far cheaper to fix when it is caught early. Have a look at our truck body repairs page, or give us a call to book an assessment.
Common questions
What is a pantech?
A pantech is a rigid, fully enclosed van body on a truck, usually loaded through rear doors or a roller door, and you will sometimes hear it called a box body or a dry freight van. Unlike a refrigerated body, a pantech is not insulated.
Can a pantech have side doors?
Yes, we can add side doors or a side roller door for kerbside deliveries, along with rear barn doors, a roller door or a tail lift at the back.
Can you convert a pantech to a curtainsider?
In many cases we can, because we regularly convert body types where the floor and subframe are in good condition. Talk to us about your truck and we will tell you honestly whether a conversion is worth doing.
